    First Solar Grants 50MW PPA for Large Solar Power Plant in New Mexico

    June 5, 2013 - First Solar, Inc. and New Mexico State Land Commissioner Ray Powell announced today that First Solar, Inc. has been granted a power purchase agreement (PPA) from the New Mexico Public Regulatory Commission, clearing the way for First Solar to begin construction on the state's largest solar power plant to be located on State Trust Land in Luna County. The PPA will provide El Paso Electric Power with 50MW of solar energy for 25 years.

    BluEarth Renewables to Purchase Four Utility-Scale Solar Power Plants from Canadian Solar

    June 5, 2013 - Canadian Solar Inc. today announced that its subsidiary, Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., has entered into a sales agreement with a BluEarth Renewables Inc. subsidiary ("BluEarth"), whereby BluEarth will acquire from Canadian Solar four utility-scale solar power plants totaling 38.5MWac(53.9 MWdc) valued at over C$225.0 million ($217.2 million). CIBC World Markets acted as advisor to BluEarth in the transaction.

    Yingli Comments on Preliminary Determination of Anti-Dumping Duty in EU

    June 5, 2013 - Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited today commented on the imposition of preliminary anti-dumping duties by the European Commission targeting solar products originating in China as well as those shipped from China. As of June 6, Yingli Green Energy's products will be subject to a preliminary duty of 11.8% until August 5. From August 6 until the final ruling in December, the Company's duty will be set at the level of 37.3%, which is the lowest rate among all Chinese photovoltaic manufacturers, unless there is a negotiated solution between China and the European Commission.

As a reaction Scheuten Solar was forced to decrease its sales prices at a negative margin to maintain market share in 2012. This situation was successfully reversed by the end of 2012, after reorganizing several business activities.

    JAMC Solar Starts Installation of Solar Panels on the Rooftops of ZEN-NOH Iwate Facility

    June 3, 2013 - The National Federation of Agricultural Co-operative Associations (JA ZEN-NOH) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) reached an agreement in July 2012 to jointly promote the solar power business by using the rooftops of facilities owned by farmers around the country and JA group's shared facilities. The partners subsequently established the joint venture, "JAMC Solar Energy Company (JAMC Solar)", in October 2012 to oversee the implementation of the system.

    Recurrent Energy Announces the Commercial Operation of 6 PV Projects in Canada

    June 4, 2013) – Recurrent Energy today announced the commercial operation of six photovoltaic (PV) projects, providing a total of 70 megawatts peak (MWp)/ 52 megawatts AC (MWac) of clean solar electricity for two communities in Ontario, Canada. These projects are the first six of nine to reach commercial operation date (COD) in a 100MWp/74 MWac portfolio acquired by Mitsubishi Corporation and Osaka Gas at commercial operation of each project as agreed in June 2012. The electricity generated from this portfolio will be delivered to the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) through 20-year feed-in tariff agreements.

    PVA TePla Announces Staff Reduction

    June 4, 2013 - As a result of current market developments and the associated investment constraints, particularly in the business units crystal-growing systems for the solar and semiconductor industry, the anticipated upturn in demand has not yet materialized. An adjustment of capacity and further reduction of fixed costs have therefore become essential. For this reason, the Management Board and Supervisory Board of PVA TePla AG agreed on an additional cost reduction program today. These measures focus on reducing the staffing level in Wettenberg and Jena.
