Gehrlicher Solar Connects 35MW Perleberg Solar Park to Grid

Gehrlicher Solar AG successfully completed its Perleberg solar park in record time after just two and a half months of construction. Technical commissioning of the solar park was completed on time on June 30. The solar power system with 35MWp nominal capacity is located halfway between Hamburg and Berlin. It is expected to produce about 33 million kilowatt hours of environmentally friendly solar power annually, an amount sufficient to cover the needs of around 9,300 three-person households. Due to the solar park's high capacity, the company also built a separate expandable 110kV transformer station, which served to connect the solar park to the grid on August 23 and has been providing full power input reliably ever since. Compared to electricity generated from fossil fuels, starting immediately, the plant will save approximately 32,000 tons of CO2 annually.

Q.CELLS: Creditors Approve Sale to Hanwha

At today's creditor meeting in Dessau-Rosslau, the creditors of Q-Cells SE approved by a large majority the sale of the business operations to South Korean Hanwha. Insolvency administrator Henning Schorisch had signed the contract last Sunday. As part of a "transferred restructuring process", Hanwha Group takes over 1,250 employees out of a total headcount of roughly 1,550 as well as most parts of the total Q.CELLS Group: in Germany, this pertains to the site in Bitterfeld-Wolfen with solar cell and solar module research, development and production as well as the administration site in Berlin; abroad, to the production site in Malaysia with an unchanged number of about 500 employees as well as some international sales companies. The integration will mainly lead to job cuts in Q.CELLS' administration division, as there is considerable overlap with the organisational structure of the Hanwha Group.
