    Kyocera to Supply Solar Modules and Services for "Social Contribution Mega-Solar Power Plant Project" in Japan

    28 January 2013 – Kyocera Solar Corporation (herein "KSC"), Plus Social Co., Ltd. (herein "PS"); and The Trans Value Trust Company, Ltd. (herein "Trans Value") have announced that they are working together to install the country's first-ever social contribution mega-solar power generation plant (provisional name: Ryukoku Solar Park). The 1.85-megawatt solar project will sell the electricity generated under Japan's generous feed-in tariff (FIT) and donate the profits to local communities, creating a model that provides funds to solve social problems while promoting the spread of renewable energy.

    Panasonic Completes Solar Project at University of Colorado Boulder

    Jan. 25, 2013 - Panasonic Eco Solutions North America announces that it has completed a 500kW solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation installation at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU-Boulder). The system was developed and built by Panasonic with local support from Lighthouse Solar. Financing was provided by a subsidiary of Renewable Social Benefits Fund ("RSBF"). The new installation will help the university meet its short-term goal of powering the campus with green energy, reducing energy usage and cost, while fulfilling part of its long-term goal for a carbon-neutral campus, outlined in the pledge made by former CU-Boulder Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson to the American College and University President Climate Commitment.

    REC Solar Dedicates 1.1MW Solar System at Moorpark Wastewater Treatment Plant

    January 25, 2013 - REC Solar today joined with AECOM and Ventura County Waterworks District No. 1 to celebrate the completion of a 1.1MW solar energy system at Moorpark Wastewater Treatment Plant. The solar project, which is the largest publicly owned system in Ventura County, will produce over 2,235MWh annually and will meet 75% of the energy needs of the water reclamation facility while helping the District achieve considerable cost savings.

    Photon Energy Investments Expands to North America

    24. 1. 2013 – Dutch-based Photon Energy Investments N.V. is expanding to North America by partnering with Toronto-based investment bank Jacob Securities. Photon Energy Investments believes North America is quickly becoming one of the largest PV markets in the world, and is positioning itself to take advantage of the opportunity with an initial milestone of commissioning 100MW of assets. Initially the company has plans to commission power plants primarily in Ontario and New Jersey. To reach this goal both companies are setting up a joint venture named Photon Energy Investments North America N.V., tasked with acquiring PV solar power projects in late-stage development exhibiting power off-take and project financing conditions that meet the company’s strict investment criteria.

    Volkswagen Chattanooga Powers up Largest Solar Park in Tennessee

    January 23, 2013 – Volkswagen today "powered up" the largest single solar installation at an automotive manufacturing facility in the United States and the biggest solar installation in the state of Tennessee. At a dedication ceremony here, dignitaries today flipped a giant light switch to signal the official opening of the "Volkswagen Chattanooga Solar Park", built on Volkswagen's compound in Chattanooga.
