SPCG and Kyocera Complete 257MW Solar Farms in Thailand
July 29, 2014 - SPCG Public Company Limited and Kyocera Corporation today announced the full operational launch of one of Southeast Asia's largest solar power projects. Since 2010, 35 "solar farms" totaling approximately 257MW have been constructed under the project, and connected to the utility grid in Northeastern Thailand. A ceremony held earlier this month in Surin Province commemorated the launch of the installations. -

SunPower Breaks Ground on 135MW Quinto Solar Project
July 29, 2014 - SunPower Corp. today announced it has started construction on the 135MW Quinto Solar Project in Merced County, Calif. The system will generate power for Southern California Edison's customers, under a long-term power purchase agreement. In accordance with the company's recently announced holdco strategy, SunPower expects to own and operate the solar power plant during construction. -

July 28, 2014 - Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged a prestigious order valued at Rs.68 Crore for setting up a 10MW Grid connected Solar Power Plant for Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL). The Solar Power Plant will be set up at Shivanasamudram, Belakavadi Village in Mandya District of Karnataka. -

The Solar Building Company Plans 49MW Solar Farm in Anglesey
July 25, 2014 - The Solar Building Company (SBC) in partnership with Mere Environmental is seeking to obtain planning permission for a 49MW solar farm on Anglesey. This will be split between 4 separate areas of land located around Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn. The investment into the project will be in the region of £55M and will be operated under the new CfD (Contracts for Difference) support mechanism. -

Solar Frontier to Build 13MW PV Project in Japan
July 25, 2014 - Solar Frontier and the town of Hiraizumi have agreed to build a 13MW CIS megasolar ("utility-scale") power plant. Hiraizumi, located in Iwate Prefecture in north-eastern Japan. The new megasolar plant will be located in Kagonezawa District of Hiraizumi on 30 hectares of land designated for commercial use.
