    Kyocera, Ciel et Terre Announce Construction of 2.9MW Floating Solar Power Plant

    September 3, 2014 - Kyocera Corporation, Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation and Ciel et Terre International announced today that they will begin construction this month on the world's largest floating solar installation. Kyocera TCL Solar LLC will develop and operate utility-scale floating solar power plants utilizing Ciel et Terre's Hydrelio© floating solar platforms in two installations, totaling 2.9MW at Nishihira Pond and Higashihira Pond in Kato City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.

    SunEdison and Los Pelambres Mine to Supply Solar Electric Power in Chile

    September 4, 2014 - SunEdison, Inc. and Los Pelambres mine today announced that they have reached an agreement for the long-term sale of power to Los Pelambres. The mine is owned by Antofagasta Minerals S.A. Under the agreement SunEdison will supply the power produced by the Javiera solar photovoltaic project, with a capacity of 69.5MW DC, for operations at Los Pelambres mine.

    Trina Solar Announces Acquisition of Majority Stake in Yunnan Metallurgical New Energy

    September 2, 2014 - Trina Solar Limited today announced it has entered into a share purchase agreement and acquired a 90% stake in Yunnan Metallurgical New Energy Co., Ltd from Yunnan Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd., Kunming Yeyan New Material Co., Ltd., and Kunming Engineering & Research Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy Co., Ltd. (collectively the "Parties"). The remaining 10% will be collectively held by the three Parties. Trina Solar obtained the stake by participating in a bidding process conducted through the Yunnan Public Resource Trading Center's online bidding platform after Yunnan Metallurgical New Energy posted an invitation to bid for the majority stake via the Yunnan Equity Exchange.

    Juwi Enters Philippine Market With 6.25MW PV-Plant

    September 2, 2014 - Germany's juwi group has expanded its global footprint to the Philippines. juwi has been selected as the preferred EPC partner to build a ground-mounted, grid-connected utility scale solar PV power plant by the project's sponsors. The solar farm is scheduled to be completed by early next year and will have an installed capacity of 6.25MW. The plant's 20,500 photovoltaic modules will produce more than 9 million kilowatt hours of climate friendly electricity per year and will thus help to support the country's growing electricity needs, sustainably.

    EDP Renováveis Established its First Institutional Partnership Structure for Solar PV in the US

    September 1, 2014 - EDP Renováveis, S.A. through its fully owned subsidiary EDP Renewables North America LLC, has secured a $33 million commitment of institutional equity financing in exchange for an interest in the 30MW Lone Valley solar PV project, located in the State of California. Lone Valley is EDPR's first solar project in North America, being currently under construction and expected to be commissioned in the 4Q14.
