    First Solar Enters Residential Market with Investment in Clean Energy Collective

    First Solar, Inc. and Clean Energy Collective (CEC) today announced that they have formed a strategic partnership to develop and market community solar offerings to residential customers and businesses directly on behalf of client utilities. Through the agreement, the two companies will jointly pursue opportunities in the community solar market to offer an affordable and convenient alternative to rooftop generation. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    ITOCHU Announces to Construct 37MW Solar Power Plant in Japan

    ITOCHU Corporation announced today that it plans to construct a mega solar power plant on land in Okayama city, Okayama prefecture, and that it will commence the power generation business through an operating company established jointly with Fuyo General Lease Co., Ltd. and Ene One Solar Co., Ltd. The operating company concluded a loan agreement pertaining to the project with a group of banks represented by Mizuho Bank, Ltd.

    Hitachi Zosen and Solar Frontier Start Construction of 15MW PV Project in Japan

    Takara Leben, Hitachi Zosen and Solar Frontier announced today that construction has started on a 15MW solar power plant located on a former golf course in Nakagawa, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The power generated by the plant will be sold to the grid. Takara Leben owns the former golf course, Hitachi Zosen is providing EPC services for the project, and Solar Frontier supplied its CIS thin-film modules, which provide high power output in real operating conditions.

    Duke Energy to Build Total 128MW Solar Facilities in North Carolina

    Duke Energy today received regulatory approval from the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) to acquire and construct three large solar facilities in eastern North Carolina. Located in Bladen, Duplin and Wilson counties, the three sites owned by Duke Energy will provide energy and renewable energy certificates to benefit Duke Energy customers as cost-effective components of the company's portfolio to comply with the N.C. Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard.

    Jinko Solar Modules Reach the New Height of Power Output

    Jinko Solar Holding Co., Ltd. today announced that its 'Eagle+' solar module reached a new height of power output for 60-cell multi crystalline silicon module during an independent test conducted at TUV Rheinland's Shanghai Testing Center. Under Standard Testing Conditions (STC), power output of the high power 'Eagle+' modules samples manufactured by JinkoSolar reached 306.9W. At present, the industry average power output of a 60-cell multi-crystalline silicon module is approximately 255W.

    Hanwha SolarOne and Q CELLS Announce Merger to Create New Solar Power Leader

    Hanwha SolarOne Co., Ltd., Hanwha Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. and Hanwha Q CELLS Investment Co., Ltd. announced today a definitive share purchase agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, SolarOne will acquire 100% of the outstanding share capital of Q CELLS from its sole shareholder, HSH, in an all-stock transaction with an implied enterprise value of the combined company at approximately $2.0 billion. The transaction was approved by the board of directors of both companies and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.

    SPI Solar Announces Agreement to Acquire and Develop Solar Project in New Jersey

    Solar Power, Inc. today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire from Shotmeyer Solar, LLC 100% of its membership interest in Beaver Run Solar Farm, LLC ("BRSF"). BRSF has obtained certain approvals for development of a 9.9 megawatt DC solar project site in Lafayette, New Jersey. As part of the agreement, SPI has also executed a long-term ground lease with Shotmeyer Solar, LLC for the land dedicated for the solar project. The transaction is expected to close prior to year-end 2014.
