June 16, 2014 - BayWa r.e. has successfully sold Great Glemham solar farm in the UK to the financial investment company Allianz Global Investors. The 19.5MW facility was constructed by BayWa r.e. last autumn. It is one of five free-standing plants that the company has planned and built in the UK.

Matthias Taft, Chairman of the Management Board of BayWa r.e., is pleased with the outcome: "After the successful sale of our wind farm we have now proven to the UK market that we are a reliable, expert partner in the photovoltaic sector. The professional realisation of the Great Glemham plant and our strong network within the industry enabled us to secure a long-term power purchase contract. This was an important prerequisite that made the project an attractive investment, both for the financing bank and for Allianz Global Investors."

BayWa r.e. and Allianz Global Investors are already working on further projects following the sale of Great Glemham.
