Soventix SA has completed the construction of a 998.4kW photovoltaic plant in Midrand, Johannesburg. The system was built for the South African head office of Siemens. A total of 3,072 solar modules were installed and connected to the microgrid using SolarEdge inverter technology. The system was split with a portion of the solution being an east west ballast roof top mount with the bulk of the system being a Schletter B2-carport mount. The modules used on the carport are glassglass-modules with standard framed modules used in the east-west-system.

"The selected modules and components are optimally adapted to the conditions at the site. We therefore expect to achieve a considerable electricity yield of around 1.7GWh in the first year of operation. We are especially pleased that a company such as SIEMENS has entrusted us with the task of using its roof and car port areas to generate clean electricity through Solar PV," says Jean-Paul de Villiers, Managing Director of Soventix South Africa.
