Solar Frontier Americas announced today it has sold its 40MW (DC) (30MW AC) Midway II solar power plant to a subsidiary of Dominion Energy Inc.

The Midway II Project, located in the Imperial County of California, is constructed with approximately 242,000 Solar Frontier CIS solar modules mounted on NEXTracker's single-axis solar trackers. The project has a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Imperial Irrigation District for the electricity produced by the plant.

Charles Pimentel, COO of Solar Frontier Americas said, "We're pleased Dominion is expanding its assets with a solar project developed by Solar Frontier Americas. As a highly successful Fortune 500 company, we applaud the growth of their renewable energy portfolio, their commitment to sustainable energy generation and the reduction of environmental carbon emissions."

Midway II is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the needs of over 6,500 homes annually. The construction of the Midway projects boosted local employment with over 670 jobs and benefited the county with increased tax revenues that can be invested into programs for local residents.

"This acquisition highlights Dominion's ongoing commitment to owning and operating renewable energy generation. We are pleased to work with Solar Frontier to provide more clean energy to the grid," said Jim Eck, Vice President, Business Development & Merchant Operations for Dominion's generation operating segment.
